Manga
A Courtesan with Flowered Skin (Hanayoi Dōchū) is a collection of linked short stories by Ayako Miyagi. It includes five stories, among them the title story, which won the grand prize and readers' prize at the 5th R-18 Literary Award (by women, for women) in 2006. Shinchosha published it on February 22, 2007, and a paperback edition with one added story followed on September 1, 2009. Set in the Shin-Yoshiwara pleasure quarter at the end of the Edo period, it is a sensual work portraying the doomed, aching love of courtesans.
