閻鐵花
Manhua
Yan Tiehua is a Taiwanese comic by Chang Sheng, serialized in CCC Creation Collection. Its heroine, high school girl Yan Tiehua, is from a family of Peking opera performers; one day she comes home to find her whole family murdered, is wrongfully imprisoned for decades for the killings, and seemingly dies when the prison explodes. Years later she appears on a livestream and, hiding her identity behind Peking opera makeup, fights to avenge her family. Blending traditional opera with science fiction, it turns an opera actress into a superhero. Director Liao Ming-yi pitched a film adaptation, and Mon Key Pro bought the live-action film rights.
