西游漫记
Manhua
Xiyou Manji is a color picture-story comic completed by Zhang Guangyu in 1945, a retelling of Journey to the West. Its 10 chapters each contain six pictures with captions, and in the manner of a chaptered novel it uses myth to satirize the society of the time. It was exhibited in Chongqing, Chengdu, Hong Kong and Suzhou, published as an album by People's Fine Arts Publishing House in December 1957, adapted into an animated film by Shanghai Animation Film Studio in 1995, and into an 18-episode animated series, Xin Xiyou Manji, in 2002.
