One Zero
Manga
One Zero is a manga by Fumi Satō, serialized in Petit Flower from 1984 to 1986. Set mainly in a near-future Tokyo, it depicts the battle between the Buddhist deities, the Devas, who seek to liberate humanity, and the ancient native gods of India, the Dasas. A story of a magical world based on Indian mythology, true to Satō's use of anthropological ideas, it is also serious science fiction, featuring meditation machines that control body and mind to extinguish karma, and an artificial intelligence that becomes self-aware while analyzing the human unconscious the machines extract.
