SWOT
Manga · 2010
SWOT is a Japanese manga by Hisashi Sugita. After a one-shot in Weekly Shōnen Jump (Shueisha) issue 52 of 2009, it was serialized from issue 31 to issue 51 of 2010, with chapters counted as 'glasses'. 'Swot' is English slang for a student who studies too hard. A sword battle manga of the kind that often does well in Jump, it never caught on, partly because of its characters' extreme language, such as repeated threats to kill, and it was cancelled after 18 weeks. The author's parting comment in the final issue suggests he regarded it as a failure.
